Cyber attack update, 11 July 2024

Posted on:

On 3 June, Synnovis, a pathology laboratory which processes blood tests on behalf of a number of NHS organisations, primarily in South East London, was the victim of a cyber attack.

For the latest updates on this, please see this dedicated NHS England website. You can also see the latest impact statement, published by NHS England on Thursday 11 July.

The site also includes FAQs for members of the public. An incident helpline is also available on 0345 8778967

Primary care appointments are going ahead as normal; however blood tests are being prioritised. The impact on services and tests has varied however GP referrals have been significantly impacted with the most important referrals being accepted for Blood Sciences (haematology, biochemistry, immunology, virology). Normal services are operating for histology (a diagnosis and study of the tissues which are used to diagnose infections, cancer and other diseases) and cervical smears.
